Government should kill gays – Kansas Pastor

Curtis Knapp, pastor of Seneca, Kansas’ New Hope Baptist Church gave a sermon titled Homosexuality and the Need for National Revival in which he stated the government should kill gays.

“Oh, so you’re saying we should go out and start killing them? No, I’m saying the government should. They won’t, but they should.”

The sermon talks about how America has rejected the one true God and that God has responded by giving us over to vile lusts such as homosexuality, in accordance with what is written in Romans 1. He went on to say, “Is this his word or not? If it’s his word, he commanded it. It’s his idea, not mine, and I’m not ashamed of it.”

Bible Study: According to Romans 1:24-28, homosexuality is a sin worthy of death. But according to verses 29-32, so are every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, depravity, envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice, gossip, slander, insolence, arrogance, boastfulness, disobedience, infidelity, and mercilessness… but you don’t hear this guy ranting on and on about putting greedy folks to death.

… but you don’t see them teaching this kid to sing “ain’t no braggart gon’ make it to heav’n.”

… and you don’t see them lining up at military funerals with signs reading, “God Hates Gossips”

If you don’t agree with what the god of the Bible says about homosexuality, stop aligning yourself with those who follow that god. Take a stand for decency and equality or take your hateful doctrine and shove it.

Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional

Good news, everyone!

via USA Today

A U.S. appeals court Thursday declared that the federal Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutionally denies federal benefits to married gay couples, a ruling all but certain to wind up before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The unanimous ruling said the 1996 law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman discriminates against gay couples because it doesn’t give them the same rights and privileges as heterosexual couples.

Legendary Doc Watson dies at age 89

via Boston Herald

From the page:

While he played all over the world, Watson still lived most of his life in the vicinity of the Deep Gap community where he was born in 1923. Blind since infancy, Watson’s first childhood instrument was harmonica. His father made him a banjo at age 10, and he learned the basics of guitar from a neighbor.

Watson was always pragmatic about music as a way to make a living. He began playing for money in the 1940s because, as a blind man, he had few other career options. Jack Lawrence, who played with Watson for more than a quarter-century, frequently said that Watson preferred home to being on the road and was less interested in being remembered for his music than as “the good ol’ boy down the road.”

——————-

I heard Doc tell the story of how he lost his eyesight at birth because the midwife’s eye solution was contaminated. To imagine that in an alternate history of time, that bottle of solution might have been replaced…

Thankfully, we lived together in this time with this humble man who has influenced so many musicians.

Newspaper gives free publicity to KKK

The Stateville, N.C. Record & Landmark newspaper gave free publicity to the Ku Klux Klan, printing their flyer for a white-power rally on the front page.

I couldn’t believe it was true until I saw the date on the paper.

Sure enough. Yesterday, two-thousand-fucking-twelve.
